Biobanking 2009 Pharma Conference offers an international platform to gather stakeholders from industry to academia in collaborating to build successful biobanks, and share samples, data and research results. The potential to advance genetic and drug research for serious diseases is greatly enhanced by building and utilising a widely-accessible biobank. The BioBanking 2009 conference is organized by Pharma IQ, a division of IQPC.
Biobanking 2009 Pharma Conference will focus on the following key themes:
• Industry-Academia Collaborations
• Harmonisation of International Biobanking Standards
• Regulations and Bioethics
• Low Temperature Storage Systems and Automation
• Information Management, Access and Sharing
• Biospecimen Science and Quality Processes to Support OMICs Research
• Sample Collection, Processing and Analysis
• Temperature Control Shipping of Samples
The annual PharmaIQ Biobanking 2009 Global Conference will discuss several major issues, such as:
• Examining functional biobanking responsibilities further for specific research areas – Epidemiology, Genetics, Proteomics, Genomics, Pharmacogenomics
• Assessing the impact of Biobanking – Are stability studies positive and have research conditions been optimised?
• Progress on developing and harmonising international standards for biological sample management and data sharing
• Best practices in biospecimen collection – Ethics, quality samples, regulatory and legal issues
• Focused sessions and dedicated workshops on evaluating sample storage systems for different types of biobanks, including pragmatic implementation issues and combining high/low throughput with sample identification
• More input and case studies from academics; biobanking operations and collecting samples from clinical trials and hospitals
