Seductions of Sameness: Tourism and Everyday Practices 2010 will attract researchers from different universities and sociable conferences to share resources, exchange ideas, discuss about social practices and formations related to tourism. This is because though tourism has become a visible occurrence of global modern culture it still does not have answers to many questions. This event will include workshops, conferences and publications. The attendees of the conference will be encouraged to debate on many questions such as, “Why do people travel? How do different forms of tourism shape societies and new orders of the world? How do they change the premises underlying the ontological work of maintaining forms of identity and selfhood? Why are tropical island tourist brochures full of pretty women? What are the symbolic and economic resources mobilized in tourism?, etc.”
